This no-fuss cut and color salon favors a breezy, partylike atmosphere. Brazilian stylist Daniel Rosa—formerly of Shampoo Avenue B and Lotus Salon—and his team of four took over the former Shalom Sharon space in April 2009. The décor is minimalist and functional: an antique backless leather bench in front, large mahogany floor mirrors at each of the five stations, and a shelf full of Pureology products. Music with a bumping bass blares from an iPod as stylists snip or foil. During “happy hour,” the champagne flows and stylists and patrons alike take breaks at the two-person patio table out front for a smoke. Despite the informal atmosphere, clients—mostly walk-ins from the neighborhood—leave with manageable, natural-looking cuts, like long-layered locks and sunny blended highlights.
