Southern California native Clarissa Malek opened this mid-sized Chelsea salon in the winter of 2010. Each of the 12 stylists and colorists—many of whom came from former Gramercy salon InSitu, where Malek also used to work—have a niche specialty, from taming curly hair to coloring redheads. (Malek herself has a knack for the wavy-inclined, and is able to create soft, frizz-free curls, without a lot of product.) The two assistants on staff at this Parisian chic space—done in a pastel color palette and outfitted with soft, brocade wallpaper and antique armoires—have been with the former InSitu team for a number of years, and are known for their invigorating head massages during shampooing at one of the six sinks. The salon plucks products from a number of lines, including Davines, Kevin Murphy, and Simply Organic, so Malek and her team have what she considers the best of the best for every hair need.
