After a nine-year stint on 46th Street, the late Brazilian hairstylist Carlos Lobo moved his salon to this sleek second-floor space in 2007. The 1300-square-foot salon has an inviting, modern interior with white flooring, matching white leather seats at each of the eight stations, and floor-to-ceiling windows in front. Lobo, an industry veteran of over 25 years who was known for his chatty personality and easy-to-style, shapely cuts, passed away in December 2008; he is succeeded by an enigmatic, mostly Brazilian staff of protégés and a loyal following of former clients. The salon specializes in expertly colored highlights and face-framing cuts for all hair textures, using products from Aveda, GHD, Biolage, and Lanz’a. Exfoliating and pore-extracting facials also incorporate Aveda products, along with a popular botanical skin-resurfacing treatment and a plant-based anti-aging peel.
