Former Robert Kree Salon owners Kree Perkins and Mitch Slabach reconvened in May 2006 to open this sleek, expanded salon specializing in precision cuts and color. Tucked among the boutique bakeries and couture pet shops along Ninth Ave., this sixteen-chair space accommodates a clientele of models and well-groomed locals that descends on weekends and evenings. The spacious waiting area in front is decked out in black mid-century modern décor, where waiting clients sip Champagne and leaf through stacks of art and beauty books. Sleek white-Lucite swivel chairs and an enormous crystal chandelier in the center of the salon are reflected in the mirrored workstations, where the staff punches up color with dye by Goldwell, Redken, and Framesi. Half of the stylists are holdovers from the Kree era, and the veteran group boasts various areas of expertise, including makeup, hair and eyelash extensions, and Japanese straightening. Some of the most coveted services are frizz-taming treatments like the Keratin Smoothing Complex and the Shu Uemura Ceremonies series of customized scalp-cleansing and conditioning procedures.
