Founder and owner Craig Laskow promotes holistic health and harmony at his high-end boutique gyms. A former fashion designer, Laskow debuted Club H Fitness in Hoboken in 2003, and it has grown to four locations with two in Manhattan, each equipped with their own spa and café serving organic meals and made-to-order smoothies. The 23,000-square-foot Hell's Kitchen location came first in February 2007, its single level resembling a modern hotel with copious natural light, iridescent tilework, and colorful mosaics by Michael Curry. Off a long hallway, a number of small studios hold yoga, spinning, kickboxing, and various cardio classes, while the Life Fitness, TechnoGym, and Precor treadmills, stepmills, and weight machines are housed on the open main area. The larger, two-story Murray Hill locale opened in late 2007, offering a light, airy boutique alternative to the ubiquitous Equinox chain found just down the street. Here neighborhood parents can drop their little ones off in the nursery and relax post-workout in a lounge chair on the roof deck. For more individual attention, nationally certified personal trainers are present at both locations to whip you into shape with customized workouts.
