Profile

Toronto-born Adrian De Berardinis hid a lifelong passion for hairdressing from his father, legendary stylist Giancarlo, coming clean only after he’d already left for college to study communications. Adrian fast-tracked his training at the Antonio Prieto Salon, where he shot from apprentice to creative director in just two years. In December 2007, he set up his own sixteen-chair shop—technically, the Chelsea edition of Giancarlo’s popular Greenwich, Connecticut, salon. Designer Celerie Kemble helped create the glossy white-and-gold space, where styling stations and an in-house coffee and wine bar are lit by an array of antique floor mirrors, chrome and Lucite chandeliers, and hammered-brass flower sconces. De Berardinis specializes in sophisticated yet low-maintenance hair, using deep-conditioning treatments and styling products by Kérastase and Shu Uemura to smooth tresses. His “crochet” layering technique—achieved with traditional scissors rather than thinning shears to maintain body—adds movement and dimension to cuts for easy styling. The same goes for the salon’s signature Baci di Sole color treatment, a father-son innovation in which color is painted on teased hair to create a natural, sun-kissed look that eliminates root lines.

Mani/Pedi While You Baci

Mobile mani-pedi services are available to clients before, during, or after their hair treatments.

I have been a client of Adrian since he was an apprentice 6 years ago and knew from the start I'd never stray. He is absolutely amazing! Adrian is very calm, focused and attentive. And even without direction he can read your style and you'll be amazed by the end product if you give him the reigns. I often times tell him to just do his thing and sit back and enjoy a glass of wine. The salon is beautifully designed by Celerie Kemble and despite being a high-end salon, has a very laid-back and friendly appeal. I also love my colorist Angela, she has a knack for getting those oh-so-subtle, barely-there, sun-kissed highlights on brunettes that look like you just spent a week in the sun. I could go on and on... I love it there and always look forward to my next appt!

De Berardinis is an excellent hair salon, which is reasonably priced for its Manhattan location. The staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome immediately. The main reason that I go to De Berardinis is that Mike P. has joined the staff there. Mike P. is simply one of the best hair colorists in New York, and he has been highlighting my hair for years. Mike P. has an excellent eye, not only for color, but for what will work for you individually. He can create beautifully effective color and highlights, which demonstrate his keen understanding of subtle color and light. While he has to sometimes be attentive to a couple of customers at the same time when the salon is extremely busy (as can happen in all hair salons), he makes sure to give his full attention to the details of each customerÂ’s hair process and to make sure that your color is to your satisfaction. Mike P. is a perfectionist and someone who clearly takes pride in a job well done. I give him my highest recommendation to anyone who is looking for an excellent hair colorist.
