Since opening this small, sunlit salon on a well-trafficked corner in 2004, stylist and colorist Joy Polintan, a veteran of bumble & bumble, and her skilled, tattooed staff have tended to the tresses of Williamsburg customers as well as some fans who trek in on the L. The spare, low-key shop, which has two pairs of freestanding styling stations, attracts a mix of men and women (with drop-ins welcome) and offers a full roster of services, from cuts to blowouts to Japanese straightening. Semi-permanent glosses (harking back to the “cellophaning” of yore) are an increasingly popular treatment, and Polintan personally performs a range of updos for clients on their way to swanky affairs.
