Profile

This Los Angeles–based blow-dry-only “anti-salon” offers in-and-out blowouts for New Yorkers on the go. Outfitted in soft-colored wallpaper, chandeliers, and black-and-white photographs, the Flatiron space, which opened in fall 2011, is decidedly feminine. After a wash, clients can choose from a menu of blowout styles (the Mai Tai appears “messy and beachy,” while the Manhattan is “sleek and smooth”), and relax at one of the stations at the long, L-shaped bar while getting their hair done with a cocktail, fashion magazine, and Sex and the City looping on one of the flat screen TVs. Blowout prices ($40 for all hair lengths), come in under the usual salon price, with the option to add extras like a ten-minute scalp massage. Monthly packages that further discount blowout prices are available, as is the option to reserve the space for a group.
