Co-owners Kimberly Pac and Michelle Abreau’s ultra-modern salon takes its inspiration from the Far East, a far cry from the dark and heavily draped tarot parlor that was the storefront’s previous tenant. After completely gutting the once-moody interior to bring in the light, they added a nail station that looks vaguely like a sushi bar, complete with green tea manicures. The display of nail enamels stands in for minimalist art. Patrons mid-pedi at the shop’s nine stations can catch up on celebrity mags or attend instead to the video-playing flat-screens on the salon’s exposed brick wall. In the treatment rooms, deep-tissue massages delivered by a strong-handed staff leave clients tension-free if, briefly, breathless; custom facials liberate pores of stubborn city grime. There’s also ear candling, brow and lash tinting, waxing and body bronzing, with treatment products both exotic and ubiquitous, like Yon-Ka Paris skincare, Hempz bodycare, Hemp Wax and Yube moisturizers.
