Formerly an Apple Bank, the storefront that houses this holistic Carroll Gardens spa is nondescript. But with eight minimalist, Asian-inspired treatment rooms—including a frequently requested, extra-private vault—as well as a next-door sun room, patio, and yoga studio, the services offered here are vast. Licensed acupuncturists and Oriental Medicine diplomats Christina Morris and Jeffrey Weidmann opened the space in December 2001 while working at hospitals in New York. Since then, the pair has devoted its services full-time to Element and hired an extensive staff that includes massage therapists, reflexologists, aestheticians of both European and Ayurvedic persuasions, chiropractors, nutritionists, and yoga instructors. The spa owns an apartment upstairs, offering a homey space for yoga classes or group treatments. While some services are more prone to pampering—the deep-cleansing Luxurious Facial, the relaxing, oil-massaging scalp treatment—the spot is known for its skill in treating injuries, abating chronic pains like migraines, and finding natural solutions to illnesses like diabetes.
