With roots that reach all the way back to the reign of the first George Bush, this storefront mini-spa predates the local renaissance that brought in businesses like Magnolia Bakery and Marc Jacobs. Since opening, the spa has thrived by offering essential beauty treatments in a no-nonsense, neighborly environment, and is perhaps best known for its wax work and its estheticians’ soothing tableside manner; accordingly, it's difficult to get an appointment around St. Barts season. West Village housewives and girls-on-the-go also rely on Eve for basic facials, which range from a 30-minute extraction-free refresher to an 80-minute deep-cleansing rejuvenation. Most of the skin-care experts have been here for more than five years, as have the nail workers, who perform quick but thorough manicures and pedicures using Opi and Essie polishes. The loyal clientele includes A-list actresses who nest in the neighborhood and who value Eve's fuss-free, family atmosphere. There are no gargantuan pedicure chairs or gurgling fountains here—just feather pillows and friendly chatter.
