Bright and cheery with exposed brick, orange-framed mirrors, and planter boxes hanging from the walls, this tiny, three-seat salon in the Lower East Side offers a welcoming, "just hangin' with the girlfriends" kind of vibe. Owner Lorean Cairns, a Denver native and Rita Hazan alum, wanted a place for not only the essential cut and color, which she and two other staff members offer, but also where women (and men) could pop in before a night out on the town. The "before you go out blowout," as it's dubbed on the menu, not only includes a wash, blow-dry, and styling — say some added volume with a few shaken-out ringlets from the iron — but also a glass of wine and some girl-to-girl pre-date chitchat. — Randi Eichenbaum
