Even better than taking a Fresh product home to pamper yourself is to lie back, relax, and have someone else pamper you with it first—especially if that someone is a licensed esthetician or body therapist, and the treatment takes place in one of two cozy rooms tucked into the back of the brand’s bright and inviting store. The Fresh line has become a cult favorite since its 1991 Boston debut. Its stylish emporiums are now beloved for their sublimely scented air, jewel-like products, and clean design. Hardly resting on their laurels, owners Lev Glazman and Alina Roytberg were struck with an idea in 2005: Why not offer customized in-store face and body treatments so that customers can experience the effectiveness of products before they buy? Thus Espace was born. Clients choose among five skincare and three bodycare treatments, each dedicated to highlighting Fresh products that meet the individual’s needs. Face treatments have names like Balance & Nourish and Age Control, while body services use brown sugar, sake, Umbrian clay, and rice to exfoliate, detoxify, and regenerate. Best of all, the price of treatments (which range from $75 to $185) is redeemable for full-size versions of the products used during services. — Melissa Foss
