Black town cars purr outside this UES mainstay as solvent style mavens linger within the swank, bi-level boutique. The phenomenon is nothing new; the veteran French fashion house has long attracted a glamorous and discerning clientele—Audrey Hepburn favored the designer for almost all of her film costumes, and Jacqueline Onassis was known to step out in Givenchy’s elegant gowns. Now, the tradition continues, as sophisticates seek season-spanning, trend-neutral suiting and knitwear and younger girls opt for ruffle-trimmed frocks or sleek sundresses with torso cut-outs. For the gentlemen, Givenchy’s impeccably crafted suits speak of Savile Row-style tailoring, in rich fabrics and colors. Both sexes have much to choose from in formalwear; pinstriped tuxes partner intricate, beaded evening dresses. And even if you’re not riding high on the society circuit, don’t miss the dainty kitten heels and adorable clutches, imperative for creating the complete Holly Golightly look.
