Located on the first floor of a residential building, Glenn Jason’s live-work space exudes the funky energy you’d expect from a D.J. turned hairstylist. There’s technicolor-striped walls, and most amusing, two small pooches greeting visitors at the door. Naturally in a place that only accommodates two clients at a time, personalized attention is key and the waiting list can be long. Jason credits years of training at Aveda, Rusk, Framesi, and Bumble and bumble for his technical skill at cutting and coloring, but it’s his ability to translate a magazine clipping into a kick-ass haircut that places him a level above the competition. — Maria Zukin
