Although he's a San Francisco transplant circa 2005, hairstylist Ed Cline knows that Williamsburg is the perfect place for a heavy-metal-inspired hair salon. Within months of opening, the tattooed Cline amassed a devoted clientele of local bands and neighborhood folk who appreciated a little Black Sabbath and Pabst Blue Ribbon with their cut and color. These days, Cline presides over this tiny, three-chair salon with the help of two Vidal Sassoon–trained stylists, who specialize in everything from drastic color changes—pink and jet black are perennial favorites—to edgy, razor cuts. Faux-hawk, anyone? For styling, the staff sticks to mostly Sebastian and Wella products, but Bergdorf blondes be warned: Cline has banned round brushes from his salon—hence, no blowouts.
