Profile
Founded by French designer Hervé L. Leroux, Leger is famous for its body-hugging, sinuous robes de bande, or "bandage dresses." These simple, chic dresses—elegant bondage for the couture set—are the main attraction at this tiny uptown boutique, though the glamorous décor—mirrored panels, a long scarlet carpet, and occasional bursts of flowers—is a close second. Although Leger was sold to BCBG in 1999, the dresses remain strictly true to Leroux's original designs. The store, meanwhile, clings to its Parisian roots, and boasts very charming saleswomen, a strict sense of uptown style and, bien sur, its own perfume line, found behind the glass counter.
