Opened in 2005, Mastic Spa is the first U.S. outpost of this Greek-based cosmetics and skincare brand. Founded by two pharmacist brothers, Michael and George Sodis, Mastic infuses its products with the sap from the rare mastic tree, an evergreen grown only on the Aegean island of Chios. Revered by the Greeks for centuries, the nearly legendary resin promises powerful antibacterial, antifungal, anti-aging, and hydrating properties. Despite the name, Mastic is a store only, and its brightly lit one-room space is stocked to the ceiling with multicolored soaps (for fighting acne, tightening, and reducing oil), bath salts, shampoos, and even a fragrant cologne. The top-sellers here, however, are the brand’s first product, Masticdent toothpaste, and the cellulite cream Liposvelte. The shop also offers a rotating selection of product lines based on mastic and combined with other traditional Greek ingredients like olives and red wine.
Brides can visit the Sodis family's spa for skin-care analysis, eyebrow shaping, and makeup application, as well as to pick up a variety of mastic-tree treasures including body creams and their signature toothpaste. Prices upon request.
