Since1985, this full-service salon and spa has specialized in versatile cuts and natural dye jobs for an upscale clientele of midtown professionals. A dozen white-leather-and-chrome chairs flank a row of large oval mirrors in the center of the salon. Co-owners Damien Miano and Louis Viél preside over their longtime staff of ten stylists, most trained at Vidal Sassoon. Miano is known for his dry razor cuts, while colorist Viél takes eye color and natural highlights into account before blending dyes and wrapping foils. The clientele includes boldface names seeking easy-to-style cuts or color boosts—George Stephanopoulos and Tipper Gore among them—who can take advantage of the salon’s private styling room. The other half of the L-shaped space consists of three rooms for facials and body treatments. The spa is the terrain of Alla Katkov, who has been conducting facials using the Italian Terme di Saturnia skin-care line since 1976.
