Profile

Monica Watters grew up caring for siblings and animals on a self-sufficient Irish farm, where her mother was a healer. Like mother, like daughter: The young colleen’s holistic training in Dublin, London, and New York has encompassed cosmetology, herbology, reflexology, reiki, nutrition, yoga, and meditation. (She’s also a raw-foods chef and soon-to-be minister.) The mind-body traditions of the East, West, and New Age come together in her elegant one-chair studio. She eschews spa menus and set treatments, and her highly personalized face and bodywork sessions aim not just to clear your skin or unkink your back, but to improve your health and mood as well. Consequently, facials usually run about two hours, and include foot reflexology, upper-body massage, nutritional diagnosis, breathing therapy, energy rebalancing, and even a Zen tarot reading. All the while, your face is cleansed, caressed, and exfoliated by a custom-mixed organic mask and de-zitted by vigorous extraction—even of milia, the poreless flesh-colored bumps that most estheticians won’t touch. Upshot: Watters’ marathon facials visibly detoxify and decongest city skin. Her primarily word-of-mouth clientele tends toward Park Avenue socialites, beauty editors, and actresses. Many are also bringing their daughters into the fold, helping to hand down Watters’ magic touch.

Extra

Trained in holistic disciplines of mind and body, Watters says she holds “a license to love.” She is deeply influenced by the teachings of Amma, the so-called “hugging saint,” whose message of showing and sharing love has touched millions throughout the world.

Monica gives more than a facial it's a spiritual experience. I have had thousands of facials over the years, so I believe I am qualified to say that Monica is simply the best! Every time I go to her I walk out glowing...I don't have to wear make-up for days because my skin looks amazing. I wish Monica came in a bottle and I could take her home to use daily.
