Namaste Yoga & Tranquility Center
|
Profile
Although Namaste Yoga & Tranquility Center is just a stone’s throw from the BQE, the serene atmosphere feels far away from the grit of Williamsburg. Subdued lighting and ambrosial incense create a relaxed vibe. Beginning, intermediate-advanced, gentle, open, restorative, and prenatal classes are held in their "sole" studio, where mats, blankets, pillows, and blocks are provided. Classes are relatively small (about six to eight people), so expect a lot of personal attention. The instructors often ask the class what they hope to accomplish at the beginning of each session (reduce stress, sleeplessness, back pain, etc.), and then modify the instruction to address each individual’s needs. Following class, students are then invited to enjoy herbal tea (made with herbs from the studio’s backyard garden). The lower level of the center consists of multiple rooms that accommodate Reiki sessions (for both you and your pet), acupuncture treatments, and holistic health consultations. There is also a small menu of spa treatments on offer, which includes healing massages and organic facials, as well as a large steam room that can be enhanced with aromatherapy oils.
Pros
From floor pillows to power crystals, the ambience creates an exotic yet comforting escape from city life.
Cons
The space can get pretty toasty here in the summer, so bring a towel.
