Naples-born hair stylist Oscar Blandi knows a thing or two about celebrities; he regularly trims the tresses of glamour girls like Jennifer Garner, Reese Witherspoon, Katie Holmes, and Jessica Alba. Maybe that’s why everyone feels like an A-lister at his Madison Avenue salon. Creating the sunny, second-floor haven was actually a kind of homecoming for Blandi, who began his career in the very same space when it was the Peter Coppola Salon. Today, Mediterranean hues give it a homey feel, and exposed brick walls, terra cotta floors, skylights, and breezy sheer curtains point to both the stylist’s Italian heritage and his fresh, modern sensibility. Complimentary iced tea, cappuccinos, and sparking water delivered to guests on trays add to the luxury atmosphere. In addition to the services of stylists, colorists, and a facialist, clients can reserve time at the Custom Treatment Bar, where deep-conditioning sessions are as relaxing as they are revitalizing. Great for dry scalps, thinning hair, or as a preparation for a chemical service, mineral-rich mud is slathered onto the head, which is then massaged and steamed. Blandi’s shampoos and styling aids are infused with natural ingredients, too: Pura, a wheat protein and algae shampoo, balances hair’s moisture content, and Jasmine Oil Hair Serum reduces frizz and adds shine. — Chrissy Persico

Bridal

This breezy Mediterranean salon is a favorite among celebrities such as Reese Witherspoon and Katie Holmes. Bridal trials (including three looks) start at $350; day-of updos in the salon start at $400. Bridesmaids can also get an updo for the wedding day, starting at $200. For styling on-location, prices upon request.

I went to Klye specifically because I had read good reviews. I later found out that he actually knows some people from Allure and that is why they featured him on their magazine. He thought he knew what I wanted. I am a brunetted that needed some subtle highlights around my crown. I told him that I wanted something natural and not with alot of contrast. He frosted streaks in the front of my hair that made me look like a skunk. The rest of my hair was dark, but the front was awful. By the time I went over to get him to darken my color his assistant told me he left. He never once checked with me to see if I liked the color, he just left. Which inidciated to me that he is not interested in my buisness. $540 later, I got the haircolor that I could have gotten from an inexperienced hairdresser or worse, myself!! Do not go to him. He pretends he knows what you want, but then he will do whatever he wants and leave.
