This Paris-based organic beauty store opened its first stateside boutique in October 2008. The 200-square-foot space has an Old World Parisian feel, with earth-tone walls, white-painted oak floors, and silver-rusted shelving. Patyka translates to “apothecary” in Hungarian, and the brand’s cleansers, toners, serums, and lotions are fittingly bracing, employing natural ingredients like rosewood bark, geranium, spearmint, tea tree, and witch hazel. Each of Patyka’s three lines get equal billing here: The Family Line, which offers gentle facial scrubs, cleansers, and creams in scents like mint and lime; the Classic Range, which includes restorative toners, creams, and cleansers targeting dry or combination skin; and the anti-aging Biokaliftin line, which enlists plant extracts to smooth fine lines and ward off free radicals. The Classic line comes in giftable bottles with simple, elegant labels while the Biokaliftin line is the most upscale of the three, concocted with high-end ingredients like diamond powder and rose. An aesthetician, Melissa, has been flown in from Paris to offer the 90-minute Signature Organic Luxury Facial ($148) on-site. The treatment includes an extraction, exfoliating diamond-powder mask, plant-extract eye gel, and soothing moisturizing lotion, finished off with a neck and hand massage.
