Profile

Thirty-year industry veteran Ric Pipino opened this vampy, opulent salon in May 2009, adorning the space with crystal chandeliers, a zebra skin rug, black and white zig-zag flooring, and ornate aqua wallpaper. The Aussie stylist is well-known among the red-carpet set, counting Bridget Moynahan, Jaime Pressly, and Kelly Killoren Bensimon among his patrons and lending his services regularly for magazine shoots and ad campaigns. The sleek waiting area is stationed in the back—nestled between the two wash sinks and a kitchen—lending an air of privacy to the cutting stations in front. Clients perch in three faceted black Fendi chairs, surrounded by nude illustrations by artist Richard Phillips. Pipino and his staff specialize in meticulous precision cuts, shunning razors in favor of scissors for control and subtlety. Brow-shaping is available from self-proclaimed Eyebrow King Damone Roberts, and a small retail section showcases accessories from local designers, including jewelry by Genevieve Jones and Felix Ray handbags. And since it’s been a long-term dream of Pipino's to combine a flower shop with a hair salon, small bouquets of roses and daisies are sold outside during warmer months.

Bridal Hair

Celebrity stylist Ric Pipino’s opulent, vampy new salon helps brides find the look that suits them; in-salon trials range from $300 to $500. A haircut with Pipino himself (he books eight weeks ahead) is $300; bridal dos on location start at $2,500. While you’re there, get a brow shaping from self-proclaimed “eyebrow king” Damone Roberts.

I saw the ad in Vogue and decided to try it out. First off, 300 dollars for a haircut isnt really in my budget so I opted for a mid range stylist. I got partnered up with Jean Marc (he was 175) and I guess the cuts start aroiund 100. Anyway, my first impression when calling was that they were not snotty as the woman on the phone was very sweet. When I arrived i was offered french pressed coffee and there were fruits and nuts for picking. It looked like a dream loft with black and white furniture and colorful modern art. So many funky rings and bags to buy..however I didnt have the extra dough. Next time. My stylist was AMAZING. I got the best haircut of my life and hte whole staff was so friendly and talkative. I met the owner, he came right over and introduced himself!
