Owner Laurie Hefner, whose had years of intense Vidal Sassoon training, has a following among the South Slope’s creative types, many of whom have followed her from salon to salon before she opened her own space in 2001. Her three-chair boutique is small and girlish with pink walls, white trellises, antique screens, hand-painted tables, and mismatched garden chairs. During weekdays, strollers fill the space; on weekends, it’s busy professionals booked well in advance. Hefner’s specialty is haircuts that are all about wash-and-go. But she’s also made fans with her laid-back style, shockingly reasonable prices, and faultless musical tastes (Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, David Bowie).
