The mission of this no-nonsense storefront is conveyed in its make-no-mistake name: Quick Brows Zone focuses on ten-minute eyebrow shapings achieved mainly via threading. The look imparted by this subcontinental method is cleanly arched and very finished. (Natural gals a la Brooke Shields and Jennifer Connelly are hardly target customers.) Technicians are fleet-fingered and equally adept at threading any part of the face; tweezers are used solely for ingrown hairs. The spa provides a wall of seats, a magazine rack and a buy-five-get-one-free deal for its mainly walk-in clientele who may have to wait a spell during after-work and pre-weekend rush hours. A small treatment room furnishes privacy for clients, among them a few men, who opt for body waxing, massages and a variety of facials that call upon Sothys products. The spa offers an artistic sideline via temporary mehndi tattoos applied with clove-fragranced liquid henna. The swirling designs take mere moments to apply to hands, biceps, tummy, or cleavage; avoiding spice-scented smudges calls for additional drying time.
