After operating a Chelsea outpost for a couple of years, Angelo Rizza worked his way down to Greenwich Village to open this intimate, six-chair salon in 2010. A former musician, Rizza got his start in the NYC hair industry at the now-defunct Robert Kree salon before branching out on his own. With hardwood floors, white exposed brick, and white tin ceilings, the long narrow space has a chic simplicity about it. That same aesthetic could be said of Rizza’s cuts. Using Kevin Murphy and Davines products, the stylist and colorist creates clean lines and straight-across, one-length cuts, so that hair, as he says, will look good even in the wind. Most of the seven-person team originates from the older, Chelsea location, and the tight-knit vibe here is apparent to both longtime clients and walk-ins.
