Hairstylist and handyman Ryan Nickulas turned a dated West Village pizza parlor into this glam, European-inspired salon offering cuts, coloring, blowouts, and extensions. The intimate 450-square-foot space is decorated in rich shades of cream and gold, with intricately etched mirrors and tall, ornate dressers holding the styling tools. After being trained at the Beauty Creator’s Academy in Massachusetts and working as a stylist in Boston and Cape Cod, Nickulas relocated to New York in 2006. He uses dry-cutting techniques to craft deft, natural styles, followed by a wash, blowout, and styling using Goldwell’s lightweight products. Nickulas employs one other stylist, Rosemary, who doubles as a makeup artist for special events and wedding parties. Other services include updos, glosses, and temporary hair extensions from Platinum Seamless. Bang trims between cuts are free and available on a drop-in basis.
