Profile

Christened Salon 25 after its original 25 Exchange Place location, this family-owned business has pampered downtown workaholics since the late seventies. But what began as a small corner nail joint has expanded to three locations, including this latest and largest outpost, a full service spa designed by top New York architect Shamir Shah. Marble floors, abundant natural lighting, and white, modern décor welcome a mix of Wall Street high-rollers and the area’s more upscale residents. The signature service is the homeostasis pedicure, an hour-long treatment for the lower legs and feet that starts with a soak in a warm brew of Chinese herbs. In addition to acupressure, acupuncture, and massage (Shiatsu, Swedish, hot stone, and prenatal), a full menu of facials are offered using top-of-the-line products: Yon-Ka for clients in their thirties and forties; Dermalogica for acne-prone skin; and Guinot for more “experienced” spa-goers.

After they burned me during a wax procedure they did not want to honor a gift certificate I received as part of a refund. The certificate was given to my friend a birthday gift and did not indicate it was nontransferable. Management was not very flexible although my friend went there on her birthday. I will NEVER return although I have received decent manicures in the past.
