Profile
Salon Ziba has basic looks, but the vibe is super friendly (hugs are not uncommon). Might one of the stylists break into song as he snips your strands? He might. But he'll also give you a perfect set of bangs. Open since 1990, the space is simple but chic in white with dark accents and a powder pink, freestanding counter where dye jobs go down. Deep-conditioning treatments are a specialty of the house. Kerastase products of varying intensities are mixed and matched to deliver serious doses of moisture to dried-out locks. The biggest zaps go to color-treated mops, while lower levels of juice go to those with naturally healthy hair. But at any level the treatments nourish and add shine, not to mention the fact that it comes with a brisk scalp massage. For use, but also for sale, are Shu Umura's line of products. Even with six stylists and two colorists, the place can get swamped in after work hours. For special occasions, updos are done right, and if you have a thing for braids, ask for Stephen, who's a plaiting machine. The uptown location serves as a one-stop beauty spot with makeup application, manicures, and waxing available.
