In this subterranean respite, hair veteran and Louisiana native Sam Brocato delivers high-end cuts without the wallet-breaking price tag. The space skews industrial-chic, accented with oversize mirrors, exposed brick, and a futuristic-looking shampoo bar featuring individualized treatments from Brocato’s custom product line (which, sold in 26 countries, also includes everything from hair clay to his new hair coloring system). The staff is stuffed full of talent, from manicurist extraordinaire Beatriz Nájera, who utilizes the formaldehyde-free Deborah Lippman line, and has worked on celebrities like Gwen Stefani and Demi Moore, to extension guru Jiwon Yang, a red carpet expert who can also beef up your special occasion 'do. Stylists are ranked from the affordable New Talent ($65) to the still-reasonable Director ($133). And while Brocato occasionally cuts at the salon, your chances for a good cut aren’t hindered if you try someone unknown. After all, they may end up being the next big thing.
