Opened in 2004 by two defectors from Dramatics NYC, Shear Bliss projects a high-energy vibe from the outset. You may not get a glass of champers with your trim, but you’ll bypass the overblown attitudes common at trendier salons. The styling floor is small, but not cramped; nine stations sporting floor-to-ceiling mirrors are situated on either side of a central stone pathway. Nail and waxing services are offered towards the back of the salon in a semi-private section. In addition to reasonably-priced cuts and coloring (walk-in cuts and single process color start at $21 and $50, respectively), Shear Bliss also peddles a Brazilian straightening treatment that provides a sleek, gentle alternative to regular blowouts.
