Before he opened his midtown private training gym in October 2006, John Sitaras studied with a pain specialist at Lenox Hills Hospital to develop a no-injury strength-training methodology. The process (from $150 per month) begins with several one-on-one assessments; then Sitaras develops a few different routines, focusing on weights. The routines are no-frills, but the high-design space is amenity-filled; members are handed bottles of VOS or Poland Spring on arrival and the locker rooms have giant terrazzo shower stalls and built-in keypads on lockers.
