John Masters morphed his salon into a retail-only outpost in late 2010, and as a result, three of the spot’s longtime stylists and colorists decided to give it a go on their own, opening this cozy, three-chair outpost just blocks away. Decked out in exposed brick, white accents, and concrete floors, the salon uses John Masters products and offers ammonia-free color treatments. This being a much smaller operation, however, there are no assistants or receptionists, so the stylist who is coloring your hair may need to break to schedule an appointment midway through your service. And though there aren’t any smelly chemicals used, sunny highlights still come out bold and bright. Haircuts are a relative bargain for the neighborhood, starting at $105 for men and $125 for women.
