When Sadia Brangan discovered threading could rid her of unwanted facial hair without irritation, she also discovered a dearth of local places that practiced the ancient art. So, in 2005, she opened her own space, a natty little venue which interior designer buddy Carol Egan has outfitted with minimalist décor encased by exotic red and black walls. Walk-ins recline in one of six leather chairs as a skilled threader works the cotton filament, rapidly removing even the finest hairs by the root. (Eyebrows are fine-tuned by a scissor trim.) Just as fast and inexpensive as waxing, threading leaves skin intact and gorgeously bare. Beyond the main floor, a back room and basement level accommodate private appointments for body waxing, basic facials, upper body massage, and henna designs for hands, feet, and back.
