Profile
Due to its discrete signage and second-floor location, this stripped-down salon has depended mostly on word of mouth since opening—which seems to have worked, given the weeks of waiting that loyal Midtown doctors and lawyers, Park Avenue dames, and the occasional anonymous celeb must sometimes endure in order to sit with the amicable Michaels. Done up in white, black, and graphite and adorned with single roses, the modern, minimally appointed loft is divided into four styling stations in front and ten in back, the latter the domain of veteran colorist Elsa Serra and her team. On the back deck, the mostly female clientele sip coffee and recline on wicker chairs while letting their shine and protein treatments sink in. Rene Furterer products are used on haircuts, blow-dries, and the rare perm, and the salon offers thermal reconditioning that lasts eight to nine months. The staff, which has been quoted in various bridal magazines, offers in-house treatments for bridal parties and will travel on-site for an additional fee.
