Opened in May 2007, Water Front Spa is a jewel-box retreat where efficient skin care and body treatments reign. Though the small space does not offer a view of the river, it does boast a comfy waiting area replete with candles, Chinese tea, aromatherapy oils, and plush lounge chairs. In the back of the house, Water Front’s handful of treatment rooms see plenty of quick lunchtime and after-work visitors—the spa is open late on weeknights for the post-dinner Wall Street crowd—but affordable packages encourage some guests to settle in for the afternoon. The well-edited service menu lists a full range of massage (shiatsu, Swedish, and deep tissue), waxing, and skin-care options, but it’s the Asian-inspired offerings like Thai massage and the deep-cleaning facial for all skin types that keep neighborhood regulars coming back. Water Front also offers a rotating array of treatment specials each month.
