Whittemore House

Profile
This West Village salon is located on the basement level of one of the oldest buildings in Manhattan, built in 1830. Co-owners and former top colorists at Bumble and bumble Larry Raspanti and Victoria Hunter took two years to create the sixteen-station space. The reception area sports boudoir chairs from an antique store in Rochester and a fireplace decked out with an ornate white mantle. Hazy floral stencils done by local artist Stephen Spera accent the exposed-brick walls and old hardwood floors. Color is done in the back station under a huge skylight, and stylists are known for creating natural-looking cuts, painted-on highlights, and sexy, bedhead blowouts.
