This Midtown offshoot of famed Upper East Side department/drugstore Zitomer boasts the same high-end products for adults, babies, and pets, but with a few differences: The main level, carpeted in an energetic blue-green curlicue pattern, appeals to a similar spa-frequenting clientele as the original location, with bath items by Molton Brown, Thymes, and Porto, Frederic Fekkai hair products, scents by L'Occitane, and house-brand Z New York cosmetics and makeup tools. There are also a few names that are unique to this health-and-beauty focused location, such as Dr. Brandt, Decleor, and Two Faced. Men have their own grooming section, while accessories galore—Pucci-esque hair bands, overnight bags labeled "Boyfriend," Petit Bateau baby clothes, and (during the month of October) Carnival-worthy Halloween costumes—fill out the expansive space. Z Chemists also houses a lower level grocery, electronics, and greeting card store that bears a closer resemblance to K-Mart or Daffy's than Henri Bendel. But it's the upstairs drugstore where shoppers can pick up rhinestone initial key chains and a pet pillow fit for humans—and get a prescription filled, all at the same time.
