Profile
This salon takes its name from the Hebrew word for "pair," which in this case refers to owners Simon Aminov and Daniel Babishov, Israeli-born friends and business partners who also own salons in Queens and Long Island. After the owner of the popular Sasha For Hair retired in 2007, Aminov and Babishov took over, and now peddle trendy cuts by a crew of mostly European stylists starting at $55, plus color services. Monthly promotions bring in midtown workers and tourists looking for a deal, and with twelve styling chairs there's plenty of room for walk-ins. Behind the main cutting floor, past an open seating area with stacks of beauty mags (for the occasional wait), is a full-service nail salon that does mean business with its workweek mani-pedi special. Zoog also keeps up with the latest in products, including brushes, flat irons, and blow dryers, along with shampoos and styling aids by Aveda, Paul Mitchell, Kerastase, Tigi, and the hard-to-find Israeli line Obliphica.
