Nothing typifies holiday cheer quite like a hired Santa, some decorative trees, and a choir of carolers. South Street Seaport incorporates all three elements into its annual fête. On Friday, November 27, at 6 p.m., the Big Apple Chorus performs at the illumination of the star attraction—a 50-foot Douglas fir adorned with thousands of twinkling white lights. Each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from then through Christmas Eve, Big Apple Chorus returns for two shows a day. Santa, for his part, greets children at the Pier 17 Atrium, just a candy cane's throw from the tree.
