A decade ago there were no less than 48 Brooklyn breweries (Schlitz, Schaefer, Piels, Rheingold, and Old Dutch, to name a few): Today's top dog, founded in Utica and installed in Williamsburg in 1996 pays homage to the burough's hops-heavy past every Saturday. Though the tour doesn't extend beyond the modest brick-walled building's brewhouse, you can count on a 20-minute vat-side talk about the brewery's history and tricks of the trade. After the talk, you can buy a cold one (they're no longer free) and it enjoy it at one of the picnic tables in the airy tasting room.
