At this Beaux Arts, apartment-style complex on a busy upper Broadway block, visitors can meet their lodging needs for a very reasonable price. A step up from the average hostel, Chocolat offers smallish Art Deco-themed rooms equipped with TVs, towels, clean sheets, closets and alarm clocks. The colorfully painted quarters are fairly small and—though some are a bit run-down—all are at least tidy. While the public bathrooms in the hallways accommodate about three rooms each, all are spotless and come with both a shower and a bathtub. Chocolat houses a laundry facility in the basement, Internet access and an ATM in the lobby, and also features a 24-hour concierge desk for tips on navigating the city.Pros
More privacy and amenities than a hostel.
Some rooms only offer bunk beds. Few tourist destinations in the immediate area.
