Two adjacent 1850s townhouses were combined to make up this homey, charming guest house nestled in the West Village. Each of the nine colorful rooms has a private bath (some in the room, some across the hall), wireless Internet service and a unique decor; the Garden Room offers a view of the lush patio, while the Martinique room has a skylight and canopied bed. Rates are very affordable, especially for the Village, ranging from $169 for the smaller Perrin Room to $269 for the spacious Ambassador Room. Abingdon's innkeepers prefer a quiet, mature clientele, so families with small children may want to look elsewhere; the same advice goes for pet owners and smokers, since the hotel prohibits both animals and lighting-up.
ProsWarm West Village ambiance and cozy rooms make this a great spot for a romantic weekend getaway.
Cons
The limited number of guest rooms make advance booking a must. Some rooms only provide twin beds. There's no innkeeper in residence, so those who expect 24-hour service should consider other options.
