"Royal" is certainly the operative word at the Rihga Royal Hotel in Midtown. Looking out onto Central Park from one of the 506 plush suites in this luxury high-rise, "elegant" and even "palatial" also come to mind. Details are keenly attended to, from the hotel's intricate gilded décor to its efforts to keep up with the neighbors (in particular, the Hilton across the street). Each suite boasts at least 500 square feet of space housing a tastefully decorated living area, bedroom and gleaming marble bathroom. The hotel supplies guests with 24-hour in-suite dining, high-speed Internet access and free newspapers—and those are just the basics. Just be careful with the spiffy karaoke CD left beside each stereo: Things could get ugly when mixed with the contents from the fully-stocked, in-suite mini-bar.
ExtraPros: The posh Halcyon, just off the lobby, is a great place for light dinner or drinks.
Cons: After all this pampering, readjusting to home life won't be easy.
A Guide to the New Hotel Glut
There’s never been more lodging here, and the rooms have never looked this good.
