Profile

The exterior of this hotel is misleading, greeting guests with pretty little flower boxes filled with yellow-and-orange (albeit plastic) daisies. Once inside, however, the wood-paneled reception area and overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke better indicate the spot’s true colors. Though La Semana no longer charges by the hour, the place gives little reason to stay longer than a one-night tryst. Red plastic chandeliers provide a rosy glow to narrow hallways leading to small, but clean rooms. The Jacuzzi rooms are outfitted in black and gold carpeting and clashing patterned sheets. (Two giant, strategically-placed mirrors frame the black beds with another mirror by the Jacuzzi to reflect any sudsy action.) Standard rooms also include small TVs and tiny bathrooms with yellowing tiles. Tourists, businessmen, and purity-ringed travelers will have better luck a few doors down at the Wyndham Garden Hotel.

Extra

Pros: The rooms are suitable for a no-frills tryst.

Cons: The dodgy atmosphere makes it a place you wouldn’t want to stay for more than a night.
