Profile

Unless you’re visiting relatives in Brooklyn, why not find something closer to Manhattan that looks less like your aunt’s parlor. Floral-patterned carpeting, the kind suffered in banquet halls, covers the three floors, framed landscape prints hang on off-white walls, and plastic, potted flowers rest on tables in every conceivable corner. The eight rooms in this townhouse turned hotel are clean and include a TV, microwave, and mini-fridge—two rooms have full-size kitchens. The faux-silk bedspreads are festooned in maroon, navy, and gold paisley. Given the mix of twin and full cots available, it’s possible to squeeze five to a room for less than $200 a night. Nevertheless, it’s a long way from the energy of Manhattan and almost an hour ride on the Q train to Union Square.

Pros

You can fit five to a room with a full kitchen for less than $200 a night.

Cons
Unless you’re visiting family nearby, you can find something that’s closer to Manhattan and feels less like your aunt’s basement
