Profile

After a taxing day of high-stakes deals or designer shopping in Tribeca, head back to the Marriott. One unwinding option is 85 West lounge which is popular with the investor set for drinks and light bites. All of the guestrooms, accented with green, burgundy and gold tones, have beds with down comforters and feather pillows, and are equipped with wireless high-speed Internet access. The rooms look out in all directions, but those on the upper levels facing south offer a view of the Statue of Liberty. Two blocks from Ground Zero, this Financial District hotel occupies an area in transition and is close to the vibrant waterside parks, sculpture and culture of Battery Park City.

Pros

As the Financial Center moniker implies, this Marriott offers 24-hour business services and proximity to the city's financial institutions.

Cons
While it may be convenient for business travelers, the remote downtown location will leave other travelers with the inconvenience of long subway or cab rides to the bulk of city attractions, restaurants and nightspots. Plus, the hotel's room service ends at midnight.

One more night to go, hotel is convenient to Battery Park and Seaport. If you are visiting Ellis & Liberty this is a good place to start. The Concierge will give you a list of restaurants in the area but if your with a family keep in mind that one block away on Greenwich Street there are deli's, quick marts, a Friday's and other less expensive places. The Sports Bar here has great specials on Football days. The Starbucks in the lobby sells frozen bagels (no toaster or microwave) and the butter was like lego bricks (also frozen) Rooms Clean and if you bring a laptop or dvd player you can plug it into the TV for a more enjoyable experience. Subway is close, cab's uptown generally were $12.00 - $15.00 each time.
