54 Strong Pl.,
Brooklyn, NY 11231
|
Single, $125; double, $150
F, G at Bergen St.
Cash Only
Stand on this secluded Cobble Hill block long enough and you can almost envision 19th century horse-drawn carriages passing by on their way into Manhattan. The heavenly setting complements this historic four-story brick B&B, complete with high ceilings and quaint fixtures. Proprietor Frances Armer, who has called Saints and Sinners home for more than 30 years, now offers the third floor to guests: two large rooms (each with two twin beds) and a small single. Like most B&B’s in the neighborhood, all three rooms share a common bathroom. SportsCenter or CNN junkies will quickly be seeking a fix as the televisions in each room come without cable. Continental breakfast is served upon request and included in the room rate, which begins at $150 per night for the doubles and $125 per night for the single and can decrease based on stay length.
ProsA great deal for the opportunity to wake up and take a walk around one of the most scenic blocks in “brownstone Brooklyn.”
Cons
Guests with mobility problems will have difficulty climbing the steep two flights of stairs up to their floor. And no amount of prayer is going to give guests their own private toilet.
A Guide to the New Hotel Glut
There’s never been more lodging here, and the rooms have never looked this good.
