A look beyond the sunken, understated lobby of this Murray Hill hotel—constructed as part of Baruch College in 1906 and reinvented as a hotel in 2001—reveals the building's historic texture. Guests will find a library, a balcony overlooking 28th St. and exclusive black-and-white prints from the New York Historical Society lining the walls. The rooms are furnished in neutral tones, with cherry wood headboards, and are business-friendly, featuring high-speed Internet access, a fax machine and copier. The Park South's Black Duck restaurant, built into an adjoining 18th-century brownstone, is arrayed with velvet lounge furniture, vintage nautical décor, and an electric fireplace. At the end of the day, guests enjoying the evening turn-down service will find a luxurious robe and slippers waiting for them—a fitting end to a day on Park Ave.
